A sneering pamphlet by the playwright Robert Greene called an upstart crow beautified with our feathers proved that William Shakespeare was already writing plays in London by the early 1590s. Henry VI and Titus Andronicus were on the boards. A tall Stratford glover's son was becoming the talk of the playhouses.
