Lahaina fire

A wind-driven wildfire swept through the historic Maui town of Lahaina in a single terrifying afternoon, killing more than a hundred people and incinerating an entire community of wooden houses descended from a Hawaiian royal capital and a nineteenth-century whaling port. Survivors jumped into the Pacific to escape the flames. Climate fire had reached paradise.
