Bell's Telephone

In a Boston attic, Alexander Graham Bell spilled acid on his trousers and shouted, "Mr. Watson, come here, I want to see you," into an experimental apparatus. Watson, in the next room, heard it through a wire. It was the first intelligible sentence transmitted by telephone. The patent had been filed earlier that week.
