Crusader siege tools raised at Jerusalem

Lacking timber in the Judean hills, the Crusaders dismantled Genoese ships at Jaffa and hauled the lumber up to Jerusalem to build two great siege towers. Raymond of Toulouse and Godfrey of Bouillon raced to complete theirs first. The towers were rolled against opposite walls under arrow fire on the decisive night.
