Morocco earthquake

A magnitude 6.8 quake struck the High Atlas mountains south of Marrakech just before midnight, collapsing mud-brick villages on remote slopes and killing nearly three thousand people. Survivors slept in olive groves for weeks. Morocco accepted aid from a small handful of countries and politely declined the rest, in a quiet diplomatic message.
