Brexit becomes real

After three and a half years of negotiations, two prime ministers, and an unending parliamentary circus, the United Kingdom formally left the European Union at 11 p.m. London time. Big Ben did not chime. Brexiteers waved Union Jacks in Parliament Square. Half the country celebrated; half the country grieved quietly.
