Akbar's general Munim Khan broke the Afghan Sur dynasty's last hold on Bengal at the battle of Tukaroi, adding the rich eastern province to the Mughal Empire. Bengal's rice, silk, and indigo fields would provide enormous revenue, but the province would prove one of the most difficult to govern.
