Battle of Bauge

March 22, 1421

A Franco-Scottish army caught the Duke of Clarence, Henry V's brother, at dinner in a muddy French village. Clarence charged without waiting for his archers and was killed. It was the first English defeat of the Hundred Years' War in a generation, and proved that longbows without time to deploy won nothing.
