Urban II elected pope

The French Cluniac monk Odo of Chatillon was elected at Terracina after the brief pontificate of Victor III. As Urban II he would revive Gregorian reform, mend fences with Alexios I of Byzantium, and eight years later summon Western Europe to the First Crusade at a Clermont council that changed history.
