Toi invasion repelled in Kyushu

Jurchen pirates from the Asian mainland raided northern Kyushu in force, killing hundreds and seizing captives. Japanese warriors under the local governor drove them back to their ships in a sharp defense. It was the most serious foreign attack on Japan for centuries and prompted coastal fortifications. The captured Japanese were eventually returned through diplomatic channels with the Goryeo court in Korea.
